Short description

Located on the North coast of Mallorca, and tucked between the Sierra Tramuntana mountain and the sea this private and quiet Spanish villa offers one million square meters and space for up to 6 people. Reflections of the sea through windows filled with breath-taking Mediterranean light will give you inspiration and a relaxed holiday.

Full property description

This small traditional farmhouse has been recently refurbished and transformed into one of the island’s most authentic and exceptional properties, respecting the traditional Mallorquin style and using local materials and craftsmanship. The interior is all local stone, wood and whitewashed walls.

Downstairs, in the main house an original farmhouse kitchen has been modernized with great care. There is large sitting room, fireplace and dining room.

The main house has two simple but luxurious double bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms, one of these is an en-suite. The casita has one double bedroom and adjoining bathroom. All our double beds can be separated, if required, to provide twin beds.
This is a house designed for outside living, there are terraced areas, covered and uncovered; a large outdoor dining table for convivial gatherings of family and friends and through the pines, a path to a secluded pebble beach with tremendous views up and down the coast.

This beautiful self-catering villa also has a spring-fed plunge, constantly refreshed by water from the mountains. It is said, by all who tries, it to possess a remarkable ability to revitalize body and soul.
Es Raco de L'Arxiduc is a place to truly relax. Listen to the wind in the trees from the sea and the mountains and you will totally fall in love.

If relaxing for you requires activity, there is sea-kayaking, swimming, bird-watching, hiking and rock-climbing. And of course, we can arrange easy access to the other delights of Mallorca. This is a place where people come to be out of touch with the outside world, and to rediscover their own creative rhythm.

The beach in this side of the mountains, the Tramuntana range, is seaweed and pebbles. Depending on the current (which we cannot control) you could find more or less seaweed on shore.. but that's up to Mother Nature !

Little has changed since the days of the archduke on this part of the island, and we like to keep it that way. Well, almost. As there is still no electricity in the area we are completely self-sufficient with our own solar cells and back-up generator.

Area description

Mallorca’s most famous adopted son, the Archduke Luis Salvador was first introduced to Valldemossa and Mallorca when stepping ashore at Es Raco de l'Arxiduc in 1867 on his way to Sardinia. He immediately fell in love with it: so much so that he decided to stay, buying Son Ferrandell with Finca EcoLuxe Playa Valldemossa being the jewel of the property.

Es Raco de L'Arxiduc is situated between the little fishing village Es Port des Canonge and one of the most original villages Valldemossa with beautiful old stone houses. In Port des Canonge there are two restaurants while there is a lot more to do in Valldemossa. Not far away, there is also the lovely city of Esporles, where you should visit the weekly farmer market on saturdays.

The house is tucked in between the mountains and you will need a good car to drive along the roads.. it is an adventure in itself, to take you all the way down to quietness and tranquility.. Part of the road is a non-asphalt road, make sure you haven't forgotten the milk before going down the house !

Port des Canonge is about 15min away (two local restaurants, no food shops)

Esporles is about 25min (all amenities, from pharmacy to banks to Sunday grocery shopping)

Valldemossa village is about 35min (same than Esporles, just in a different road more up north)
Palma de Mallorca is 40min
